Long term volunteer

tshirtsNaucrates conservation project is looking for skilled, professional volunteers to help our field team in Thailand. These opportunities are open for people who are willing to commit to minimum of 8 weeks and have experience needed to support the project team.

Long term volunteer positions are available between

10 December 2017  and 30 March 2018.

Marketing Coordination

The role is to Naucrates team with marketing and promotion. Applicant needs to be mature and responsible person, who has excellent spoken and written English language skills, experience in writing blog posts or articles and able to work independently in remote and rural location. Good photography, arts/graphic design or video filming/editing skills are a plus.

Responsibilities:lizard

  • Write blog posts in English and take photographs about the project activities, local flora and fauna, Thai culture, volunteering etc.
  • Work relatively independently with minimal supervision
  • Help to promote the project activities online
  • Design and create project leaflets and other marketing materials
  • Help the project team with other project activities
  • Take photos and videos in the field
  • Preferably work with own laptop and camera
  • Write a report on marketing activities by the end of the volunteering period

  • Project location is remote, rural Island with very little western comforts and no technologically advanced equipment and limited electricity. It is good to be prepared to work in the off-line mode.
  • Our main priority is to run the conservation project and long term volunteers need to help with beach monitoring and behavioral observations if there are not enough short term volunteers. Dedicated time for marketing work will be scheduled for few days a week.

Long term volunteers will receive reduced room and board rates. We offer subsidized room and board (3 meals a day) to accepted volunteers at the cost of 220€/ week . Minimum commitment for this position is 8 weeks. You are expected to cover your travel costs to and from the island and personal expenses.

awarenessEcotourism and awareness raising

The role is to raise awareness among the tourists about the conservation efforts and the nature of Phra Thong Island in general. The role includes making materials and arranging awareness raising events like turtle talks and beach cleaning for the tourists. In this position you are also supporting Naucrates staff in cordinating and organizing free time activities to our volunteers and interns.

Part of the role is to maintain the small natural history museum of Naucrates in the Lions village and give tours to visitors.

Applicant needs to be an active and engaging person, to have experience in public relations and tourism sector. Applicant needs to have experience in practical work and be able to adjust and train methods to remote and rural Island in Thailand where there are no technologically advanced tools and equipment available.

Responsibilities:field station

  • Coordinate and organize awareness raising events and activities
  • Coordinate and organize free time activities to our volunteers and interns
  • Guide and train volunteers, villagers and visitors in the natural history museum in Lions village
  • Help the project team with other project activities
