Stage the Nature
art workshop for children and their parents and friends
Long weekend in rural Italy among the beautiful setting of the Olive Groves of the Lepini Mountains in the Lazio region.

Explore and enjoy playing in the open air with children.
You will indulge in some authentic local cousine and vino.

2 – 5 August 2007 – 6-9 September 2007

Activities

The activities will be attended by adults and children. Going to workshops with your own children and their friends is a pleasant way to spend some time in the open air, away from the polluted thoughts which accompany us in every day life.

The days will begin with breakfast at your accommodation, you will be taken with the other participants, a member of Naucrates and an artist,  to the olive groves on the hills where you will be able to walk and learn about the local flora and fauna. You will be invited to collect some elements and to analyse colours and shapes of nature.

There will be a special class for children to learn to sketch alive farm animals.

In the second part of the day each team will create a model of a scene, using a cardboard box as the theatre and  the elements collected as protagonists, and finally painting it with the colours seen in nature. Each team will enter the Oscar Stage Design competition for the best scene. The price will be given at the end of the course.

The stunning view from the hills, the details of  secular olive trees, the wild flowers, the colours of sun bleached hills are examples of what you will be able to portray.

During the evenings you will be able to taste succulent dinners in local restaurants and enjoy traditional cucina corese and vino .

Location

Italian countryside where agricultural landscape dominates the flat land located near the Thyrrhenian Sea. A land of olive groves and woods in the Lazio Hills, about 20 km from the Sea and 40 km south of Rome.
Accommodation will be provided in Cori, a small village nestled on a hill and still supported by the original ancient cyclopic walls, where remains of temples, ruins and churches accompany the visitor through to the 20th Century.

A place of mythology (Jason and Argonauts, Ulysses), the site of numerous battles (first with the Volsci, Latins and Romans and later as a refuge for Lucio Silla during the war with Mario), and currently divided into three Rioni corresponding to the three accesses into the town. To the present day a traditional horse race (Palio delle Contrade) and a costume parade is held during the summer months, which makes Cori an enchanting place.
