SPONSOR A BABY TURTLE

TURTLES URGENTLY NEED OUR HELP

Since 1996, the Sea Turtle Project at Koh Phra Thong has been regularly working on the island during the nesting season protecting nests laid along 15 km of beach.
Research activities include beach monitoring, measuring, hatching success studies and behavioural studies.
The local community is actively participating in our programme.
In
10 years of project, we have safely released more than 3000 hatchlings into the Andaman Sea giving the local nesting population a chance to survive and may be
RECOVER IN THE FUTURE!

Running Out of Time

Sea Turtles in Thailand need HELP

Along the Andaman Sea coast of Thailand an overall
decline of 82%
in sea turtle nests has been recorded.
The few adult nesting females left and
ALL the nests laid must be protected in order to avoid
the extinction of the species in this area.
Without help, Thai scientists predict
EXTINCTION BY 2010.

SPONSOR A BABY
& TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE THE POPULATION

By sponsoring one or more of the endangered species of sea turtles nesting at Phra Thong island, you are pledging your support to the Sea Turtle Project, which is working hard to release as many baby turtles as possible every year.

Your donation will make a difference!

WHAT WE DO

It is a common conservation procedure in Thailand to keep sea turtles in captivity for a certain period and then release them into the sea
believing that the hatchlings will be bigger and therefore stronger than before.

At Phra Thong Naucrates Sea Turtle Project
most of the new born hatchlings
are released into the sea as soon as possible after their emergence following the natural cycle.
