After the great success of the first and second Naucrates Photographer of the Year Competition, Naucrates is now proposing to continue the initiative in order to involve all of you who have participated in Naucrates field work or who have the passion for being a photographer. It is an amateur competition, everybody can participate (you are not required to be a professional photographer!).
Winners will be announced at the VII Naucrates Annual Meeting on 11 October 2008. If you cannot attend the meeting you can still participate in the competition by sending your pictures by post to Naucrates.

The competition’s aims are:
• To create an occasion to show different images and share them between members and volunteers of different years who can share the experience obtained with Naucrates.
• To inspire a new generation of photographic artists
• To use the photo collection to conduct awareness about conservation

CALL FOR ENTRIES  (free admission)

Categories: You can enter up to three colour or black and white images (print size 12x19 cm; high quality) in each of the following categories.

           1.      The Sea
      2.      The forest (mangrove, savannah and rain forest)
      3.      Volunteers, school and village.

Labelling: your name, address and category number (or name) must be written on the back of each print. Description of the subject of each picture, when and where the picture was taken must be indicated on a separated paper.

Images can be also sent in digital format and Naucrates will print them for display at the VII Naucrates Annual meeting.
 

Judges: Naucrates committee will follow an aesthetic criteria of evaluation, looking for original, beautiful and striking shots. Emphasis is placed on photographs taken under wild and free conditions.
